Jolie Voight (born on June 4, 1975 in Los Angeles, California), is an American
actor, director, and producer who is well-known for her sex appeal , as also
her humanitarian work. She was awarded an Academy Award for her supporting role
as a mental patient in Girl, Interrupted (1999).Jolie, daughter of actor Jon
Voight, spent much of her childhood in New York before relocating to Los
Angeles at age 11. She was a student at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film
Institute for two years. She later enrolled in Beverly Hills High School. New
York University later taught her drama. Alongside acting in theater
productions, she also played the role of a model as well as appearing in music
videos.Jolie's first big movie part was in Hackers (1995) and during the
filming process, she became engaged to her first husband British actor Jonny
Lee Miller (married 1996 divorced in 1999). Similar to several other films,
this one did not garner a following. However, in 1997 Jolie gained a lot of
notice for her performance as the wife of Alabama's segregationist governor in
the film George Wallace, and she was later awarded a Golden Globe Award for her
portrayal. She played the role of the supermodel struggling with drug addiction
in the HBO film Gia in 1999. Her performance was rewarded with numerous
accolades, including a Golden Globe Award and Screen Actors Guild Award. In
1999 she appeared in the comedy Pushing Tin with John Cusack and Billy Bob
Thornton, and the following year she married Thornton (divorced 2003).After her
Oscar-winning turn in Girl, Interrupted, Jolie starred in a series of action
movies. Jolie portrayed the carjacker's girlfriend (Nicolas Cage), in Gone in
Sixty Seconds 2000. Then, she took on the British accent as well as mastered
street fights and kickboxing in order to be able to play the characters in Lara
Croft Tomb Raider 2001 and Lara Croft Tomb Raider The Cradle of Life 2003. In
2004, she played the mother of Alexander the Great in Oliver Stone's Alexander
and also appeared alongside Gwyneth Paltrow and Jude Law in Sky Captain and the
World of Tomorrow, a science-fiction thriller set in 1930s New York City. Both
films were disappointing at the box office, but Jolie's Mr. & Mrs.
Smith (2005) was a success. Jolie played a character acting as a normal
homewife during the making of the movie. Brad Pitt became her partner.
