lady gaga

LadyGaga met performer Lady Starlight during this time; after a performance at the Lollapalooza Festival in 2007 Gaga was signed by Vince Herbert to Streamline Records which is an imprint of Interscope Records. Gaga signed a music publishing agreement with Sony/ATV after having been an apprentice to songwriters at Famous Music Publishing. As a result, she was hired to write songs for Britney Spears, as well as labelmates New Kids on the Block, Fergie, and the Pussycat Dolls. At Interscope, singer-songwriter Akon recognized her vocal abilities when she sang a reference vocal for one of his tracks in studio; Akon then convinced Interscope-Geffen-A&M Chairman and CEO Jimmy Iovine to form a joint deal by having her also sign with his own label Kon Live, making her his "franchise player. The first album of Gaga, "The Fame", was released in 2008 to little interest from the radio. Gaga went on tour across Europe as well as in the US to promote her album. It wasn't until Gaga had her first hit, "Just Dance", that mainstream attention began be paid to the music industry. Gaga was suffering from a tear in the labrum on her right hip which she had been nursing secretly for a few weeks in belief that she would be able continue the tour. The singer was unable walk following a performance in Toronto and was in severe discomfort. The tour was cancelled.
