As young as 5 years old, Linda Blair had to become comfortable in the spotlight, first as a model for children and acting, when out of 600 applicants she was selected to play the part in the role of Regan who was the possessed child, as in The Exorcist. Linda soon rose to global fame, was awarded the Golden Globe, and seemed to be destined to win the Academy Award for that role however, when the film's leak revealed details of how certain aspects of the role were not done by Linda Blair (the demon voice was recorded with Mercedes McCambridge, and eight seconds of a stunt dummy were employed) the dream was shattered in disappointment, which most likely was the beginning of the end that could have been the start of a career on the A-list. The next couple of years Linda was not a problem securing lead roles in a number of movies, including the wildly successful television series Born Innocent However, when she was forced by her peers into purchasing cocaine by 18 years old, it led to an arrest and then a conviction for three years of probation. Linda was disqualified by Hollywood after the much publicized drug bust. The career of Linda soon only limited to B films as well as guests TV appearances.
