Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell (born in New York City) is an American TV reporter, journalist anchor and commentator for NBC News based at Washington D.C. Mitchell holds a bachelor's degree in English language and culture from University of Pennsylvania. In the year 1967, Mitchell was hired as a reporter at KYW Radio and TV in Philadelphia. She was a reporter for the CBS affiliate WDVM-TV (then WTOP) in Washington DC in 1976. In Washington, she was appointed general correspondent by NBC News two year later. Beginning in 1981 she started reporting from the White House. In 1988 she became the the chief reporter for Congress. Then, in 1992 she was appointed the Chief White House Correspondent and in 1994 chief foreign affairs reporter for NBC News. Mitchell has been a panelist and anchor of the TV show Meet the Press. Mitchell joined the panel in 1988's presidential debates in which George Bush against Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married with Alan Greenspan, former Chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell has received numerous awards for her journalism achievements, such as an award called the Goldsmith Career Award from John F. Kennedy School of Government in 2005. Mitchell was also awarded with the Leonard Zeidenberg Award presented by the Radio-Television News Directors Association in 2004. Mitchell began reporting on in the White House in 1981-1988, and during the presidency of Ronald Reagan. Mitchell covered a number of noteworthy stories over time, including budget reform, tax reform and an investigation into the Iran Contra affair. Mitchell traveled extensively together with Reagan as well as Mikhail Gorbachev to world summits.
